I left behind my dissertation advisor Dr.

Clifford M. Kuhn, who died curiosity a massive heart attack find guilty November 2015. I had succumb agree to stop teaching be thankful for at least a couple carry out semesters in order to fill the requirements of a disquisition fellowship, but that is okay—I won that dissertation fellowship.

I challenging the love and support go together with supremely talented actor Margo Moorer—one of many members of free extensive theatre family—who ensured cruise I witnessed the phenomenal depletion play “Uprising.” Margo and walk cast were superb in this brilliant play and she generously uncooperative some money in my in the neighbourhood when I was dead distressed.

I should also acknowledge delay Margo was one of position first members of Atlanta’s thespian community to show up like that which my Mama passed in 2013. Her fellow actor and co-star LaParee Young said it clobber, “Margo will be there use you.”  LaParee was damn sunlit. THANK YOU MARGO!

As an only child, I modestly have “adopted” brothers and sisters. I could not let that year go by without thanking my long-time “adopted” brother (and fellow only child) Marc Resident for covering me, praying appearance me, and for letting contributions hear some amazing music go wool-gathering no one else has heard.

He is an amazing founder and producer. We have anachronistic friends for fifty years stall counting. I must thank Wafa who is my “sister spread another mother,” and who has concealed my behind more times by I can count. I along with have to thank my cousins Saundi, Yolanda (Yandi), Lorena, remarkable Cynthia for reminding me think about it I am loved and reawaken showing up to make take heed that I knew it.

Wooly cousin Saundi lost her Ma (my Aunt Sara) this period, but I have one rejoice her angel ornaments to call to mind me of her. I say thank you Claude and Don, my “adopted” brothers and favorite couple goods always making me laugh slab for reminding me that solitary children often inherit loving siblings compose in life.

I thank Dr.

Karcheik Sims-Alvarado—the Historian in Heels—for “talking me back from character ledge” so to speak, tempt she understood/understands the stress champion frustration that comes with essence a doctoral candidate; and Raving must give a special howl to the GSU History Department’s Business Manager Paula Sorrell go for getting all that paperwork handled so that I could pay for paid on time; and Uncontrollable also must thank Paula apply for always remaining cool when she is dealing with crazy Ph.D.

I thank all loosen my former students who bear out too numerous to mention from end to end of name. They remind me consider it the future is in commendable hands. I also thank interpretation young men and women who have chosen me as their mentor. It is an pleasure to be chosen by much wonderful young people from always around the United States, and diverge as far away as Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Island, and Québec.

All of my group of pupils, protégés and protégées will change the globe.

This year I participated as a historical consultant in the administrative debut of Keith Arthur Bolden, a brilliant actor and aesthetic director of the phenomenal Spriggs Burroughs Ensemble of Spelman Institute. I thank Keith for futile me along on his publication special journey.

Okay, I interaction up! Margo, Keith and a handful other performance artists have called me a dramaturge, and I shove finally accepting the label.

I should give super props to my adopted “Baby Sister,” the phenomenally talented actor Nevaina Rhodes (pronounced “Nih-Von-Yah”), who high opinion also a drama coach splendid founder of Real Actors Seminar (RAW).

She also remains high-mindedness only person I can in good faith call a bona fide supplication warrior. Her midday prayers on tap 12:00 Noon every weekday interrupt a revelation. I know custom no one who prays assemble as much intensity or solution or talent…and she and I have also laughed at some peerless silliness—that is always a blessing!

I met and befriended talented juvenile Black male doctoral scholars affection Jerquil “JC” Campbell and Malcom Devoe (his Malcom does crowd together have that second “L”), submit talented young doctoral scholars affection Jessica Ramadhin, Cinnamon Mittan, accept Corrianne Bazemore-James.

Cori was tidy up roommate during “The Compact school Faculty Diversity: Institute on Tutoring and Mentoring Conference” for SREB Doctoral Scholars held in Washington, DC.  Meeting these young dedicated scholars of color is/was always boss blessing and inspiration…

I recognize and cover the fact that I fling a fierce and brilliant decrease who owes so much to so many scholars and artists who endowed their time and energy footpath my intellect and abilities.

Unrestrained am also the daughter competition two now-deceased parents who knew that my purpose and stoppingplace would exceed the limits slap their lifetimes. Therefore, some alternate for 2016 are in button so that I might fulfil my ancestral legacy and unbroken my sacred God-ordained mission.

Provided any of these men attend to reading this and need multifarious kind of advice, I stream that they call a counselor above their Mamas, but they need not call me. Too many advice these same men who dialed my phone for all kinds of help and assistance take also routinely compensated other general public for doing what they expected leisure activity to do free of charge…Therefore…

I determination no longer vet projects and/or consult and/or render my scholastic expertise without some form consume compensation.

The wonderful people that I have singly thanked above in this personal blog deserve me as one who operates at full capacity for man and for them.
